Kat Von D Lock It Concealer

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer - Shade light 18

This concealer, man. It gets me.
I've been using this product since I received it at Christmas, and I haven't wanted to reach for anything else.
I've always been a cheap and cheerful kind of girl, and I don't think I realised that in this case, paying a little more, really does make a difference in the quality of the product. Now, I didn't exactly pay for this myself as it was a gift, but you get the idea.

The Kat Von D Lock-it Concealer is what concealing dreams are made of for me.
The formula is smooth, and not at all thick. I've been using this for three or four times a week, the rest are make-up free days; and I've maybe used all of half of this 17ml tube.

I've been using the shade 'light 18' which is one of the lightest shades available. This one, having a beige undertone; which I thought would be best for me seeing as I couldn't swatch before buying. Surprisingly, it's a great match. I have quite a yellow tone to my skin, and this does the job quite well.
If you're fair skinned and looking for a concealer that's super light, able to brighten and highlight, this isn't for you. As much as it's light enough for my pasty skin, it just doesn't bring the brightness to my under eyes like the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in fair does. I think that's where this line fails a little. I would certainly love to see a wider selection of shades. (Although, I'm sure I've read somewhere that this may be on the horizon. Don't quote me on that though. )

As for actually concealing, this does a fab job. It covers my dark circles effortlessly, and if applied well, it also covers the broken veins I have under my left eye. I've applied this in several ways, and I've found the result doesn't differ all that much. Personally, I like to apply this will a brush first, and then blend out with a beauty blender.

Wearing just my Gosh foundation drops and the Kat Von D concealer as a base.

If you're not a fan of using a powder to set your concealer, you should be all good with this. It sets well on it's own, and although it does have a slightly tacky finish, it still doesn't budge at all throughout the day. If you do want a little bit of extra staying power though, don't be afraid to use that powder. It instantly takes away the tacky feeling and creates a soft natural finish.

Personally, this is on my list of holy grail products now. I had a mild panic and realised that this wasn't readily here in the UK; then my wonderful father in law came home with a spare for me.
I feel like he may be my overseas make-up dealer now. Poor guy.

If you are able to visit a Sephora, or even make a big ass online purchase, then I would highly recommend trying this out. It retails for $25 (£17-ish), which for me is a little pricey, but it's so so worth it. If you want to take a looksy at the shade range, you can find it online here.
